Stand with LGBTQIA+ Young People

Hyatt Riverfront (Jacksonville, FL) – In celebration of October being Pride Month, on October 18th, JASMYN hosted its annual breakfast to draw attention to Coming Out Day. Coming Out Day is an annual recognition and celebration of all of those that have come out as LGBTQIA+, or to encourage others who may be struggling to do the same.

The day provided two keynote speakers, Jacksonville native Javontae Williams, a nurse and nationally recognized public health advocate, currently serving as the HIV Prevention Program Manager at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, and Sam Ames (they/he), who is the Director of Advocacy and Government Affairs at The Trevor Project.

HOPE Across the Globe is proud to be a sponsor for JASMYN’s Coming Out Day Breakfast.

We at HOPE would like to congratulate VyStar Credit Union CEO Brian Wolfburg who was awarded this year’s Diamond award. JASMYN’s Diamond Award is their highest honor for persons who have significantly contributed to the safety, health, and well-being of LGBTQ young people in Jacksonville. This year’s JASMYN Emerald Award was presented to Dr. Raoul Sanchez of the Carithers Pediatric Group. Sr. Sanchez was recognized as an outstanding individual volunteer working with JASMYN for the well-being of LGBTQIA+ young people in Northeast Florida.
